Three of my favourite videos from Hillman Curtis‘ Artist Series. Beautifully shot and composed, they’re worth revisiting time and again when in need of motivation, inspiration and simple wisdom.
Stefan Sagmeister (@ Deitch Projects) and Milton Glaser after the jump.

Amazing (political/cultural) poster work by designer Vincent Perrottet. His work is emblematic of the “french tradition” as it were, falling somewhere in between Ne pas plier and M/M Paris.

It’s a bit shocking to me, given my ambivalent relationship with facebook, but one of my all-time graphic design heroes, Martin Venezky of Appetite Engineers, has decided to use a facebook page as portfolio. And given the amount of work they’re posting, and the level of detail they’re showcasing with each piece, it works surprisingly well.
Facebook reticence (and bad image compression) aside, the photo gallery is really worth checking out. Many of the works featured are completely new to me, and they’re some of the most innovative and striking designs I’ve seen in a long time.

In counterpoint to Sunday’s post, I’m loving the work of French design duo Helmo. Rigorous, boldly graphic and smart without being pretentious. Their cartographic posters done for lux* blows my mind.

Beautiful, grungy, and poetic design work from Colin Smith of Distorted Perspective. I love the fact that he’s got a lot of his work available as pdf’s for download and I love that he’s working in a style that many have abandoned exploring for the gloss of web 2.oh… stayin’ true to his (and my own) design roots and fighting the good fight. The photography work is also top-notch. All round inspiring stuff (and lots of it) to be found on his recently relaunched website.
Emanuelle Enchanted was a collaborative typography project conducted by my fellow students and I during our MA course at the London College of Printing in 2004. The two-day project was based on a brief by tutor Paul McNeil that instructed us to design selected extracts from experimental theatre company Forced Entertainment’s play of the same name. The results, when seen as a whole are pretty impressive, and I’m reminded of how lucky I was at the time to be surrounded by so many talented individuals.
Here’s a beautiful set of sexy “illuminated” letters designed by Airside for Wallpaper‘s Sex & Art issue. Graphic, in both senses of the word. You can find the backstory, sketches, and more visuals on Airside’s Blog.
Montreal artist (and Four Minutes to Midnight contributor) Kevin Ledo is probably better known for his beautiful and seductive portrait paintings, but it turns out he’s a bad ass street artist as well!
