Mike Mills Interview on The Marma Spot
I just finished reading a great little interview with designer/director/artist Mike Mills over at The Marma Spot.
“To me the different career categories are really just false creations of art schools, the people who thought up careers. It’s all one big conversation I’m trying to engage in, there are different parts to the conversation, different ways of talking, short talks and long deep private talks, but it’s all the attempt to communicate, to not be alone, to be a part of things.”
Inspiring stuff… Read the interview here.
Word(s) and Image(s)
I recently stumbled across this beautiful flickr set by F-letter and was struck by the perfect, simple harmony of his typography and imagery, a balance I continually strive for, but can never seem to achieve. Everything is just perfect in these images and they’ve raised an interesting side story into the script face that pairs so well with one of my favourite sans, Trade Gothic.

Know Hope is a brilliant street artist based in Tel Aviv. I randomly came across images of his work a few days ago and was deeply moved by its heart-felt humanism, poetry and unique execution/installation. Even his tag has stuck in my head, bouncing around like a melodic rhyme, or a mantra.
This morning, serendipitously, I stumbled across an insightful interview with the artist on the beautiful craft/art blog My love for you is a stampede of horses, complete with more great images of his work.
Type by Fwis
Chris Papasadero of FWIS fame attempts to design a typeface every day for 31 days. So far, its looking good, and I wish him all the luck. Add this to FWIS’ lengthening list of assorted design initiatives like readymech and the amazing book covers blog.

but does it float is a smart, beautiful, and dare I say ‘poetic’, image blog curated by Folkert Gorter and Atley G. Kasky. It’s full of inspiring visual work and quotations (“Without struggle, no progress and no result. Every breaking of habit produces a change in the machine.”) and is definitely worth repeated visits.
