It’s my favourite time of the year! Expozine 2010 is right around the corner (THIS weekend!) and I’m beyond excited to get to see so many of my friends again and all the work they’ve been up to in a sweaty church basement jam-packed with geeky zinesters. And equally excited to discover new art for my walls, new zines for my mind, and new people to collaborate with. I’ve met some of my best friends through this event, and it’s one of the main reasons I’m still in Montreal, with its amazing community of independent artists. It’s going to be a fabulous weekend!

Four Minutes to Midnight will be tabling with our looooooong awaited and eagerly anticipated eleventh issue, Happy Hour by FA Nettelbeck, a new print series (entitled Capitalism Kills Love), and what’s left of our old stock of zines, posters and CDs (come get it while it lasts!), alongside other assorted miscellanea from our friends and collaborators.

The opening event takes place Friday night at Sala Rossa, featuring performances and presentations by the inimitable Tony Ezzy, Super Fossil Power, Sherwin Tija and more. This year also features special guests la fanzinothèque de poitiers, visiting from France. They’ll be giving a workshop presentation on Saturday. And on Sunday, locals Palimpset and Pica magazine will be hosting a discussion on “Art zines”.

Expozine is now in its ninth year, and I guess should say that I’ve recently become a board member for Archive Montreal, the organisation behind Expozine, but you know I would be gushing regardless. I’ll be helping out throughout the weekend and will be involved in the organising for next year’s event (which will be even more spectacular!), so please feel free to give me feedback on your experience and what you’d like to see for the ten year anniversary.

Hope to see everyone there! …and good luck at the printer’s!

It will be my first year at Expozine as “an artist”. 🙂 So I’ll make sure to stop at your table and see what you have.
