Oh these tumultuous times!
The last month has been hectic to say the very least. Work, life and love have conspired against me to throw most of my preconceptions into the wind. Let’s see if I land on my feet. Out of that maelstrom, a little beleaguered news:
First off, I’ve moved yet again. This time into a nice little apartment/studio in my favourite hood in Montreal. The studio shots I promised way back when will have to wait… My new address is:
5380 ave. du Parc, #3
Montréal, Québec
H2V 4G7
Please send all love letters here…
Before getting into what I’ve been working on over the last little while, I wanted to announce that John and I will be tabling yet again at Expozine THIS WEEKEND (November 14-15). This year’s edition seems to be shaping up great, with a bunch of ancillary events and an opening party tomorrow night! Though we don’t have a new issue out, we’ll be selling copies of issues eight, nine and ten at reduced prices alongside a series of fresh posters and prints. We’ll have some information and previews for the eagerly anticipated next issue. John will also have a couple of other projects he’s been working on with his collaborators in the music scene. I haven’t seen ’em yet, but I’m sure they’ll be great!
I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone there, please stop by and say hello!

Artivistic 2009: TURN *ON
The 4th edition of Artivistic: TURN *ON is right around the corner. Artivistic is a collective working on issues at the intersection of art, information and activism that I’ve been involved with for the last couple of years. This year’s gathering, taking place from Thursday, Oct 15th through to Saturday the 17th, brings together over 40 international artists and activists dealing with (and playing upon) the myriad questions raised by themes of sexuality and eroticism.
It promises to be three intense days and nights filled with performances, workshops, installations and dialogues that will challenge stereotypes and our own constructed sexual limitations. Check out the website for more details and RSVP to the event on facebook to stay abreast of all the various happenings.
More to cum…
Scène 1425 logo
I recently completed a small branding project for Scène 1425, a local concert promoter who’s mandate is to bring quality rock shows outside of the Montreal city center to all the music starved kids in les banlieues (Laval et al). They’ve built a large, loyal following and were in need of a new logo that captured the spirit of not only the company, but the growing scene surrounding it.
Though the budget was tight, the cause was good, so I embarked with enthusiasm on the rush project. The process was a lot of fun, and inspired by designer and blogger David Airey, I thought I would take a moment to share it here for posterity and potential clients. Given the budget and time constraints, some corners were cut in design development and implementation, but I’m pretty happy with the end result that is now being implemented by Scène’s in-house designers.

2356 posters: set 01
A while back I mentioned a series of art posters I had designed to promote and raise funds for 2356. So finally, here they are! If you’re interested in purchasing one or more and supporting the cause, please drop me a line. Size is in and around 12″ x 18″, printed digitally on matte archival stock. More designs will be coming soon once I get the new studio set up (pics of that will be coming soon too!).
Paranoid
Paranoid is a project we’ve had going on the back burner for a while now, and we’re happy to announce its official public and FREE release. Collaboratively designed by Simon Carrasco, John Stuart and myself, Paranoid is a purely geometric display face developed as a contribution to, and subtle critique of, the still growing trend of bold, geometric and counterless typography. It can be used equally well to bring back the joy of cocaine clouded 80s dance parties or to express the ominous foreboding of inevitable nuclear disaster, a flexible face in spite of its limited form.

New print available from Paper Kite Press
One of our designs is now featured as part of Paper Kite Press’ Visual Poetry poster series. The piece is an aggressive remix of pages from issue 5 of 23:56, the starting point of our approach to the fugues in the later issues.
The series is a great initiative by Dan Waber, showcasing contemporary visual poetry from around the world. We’re very honoured to be recognised as one of his selections. Please stop by the shop and pick up a six-pack of poetry for only 20 bucks!

In Solidarity With Gaza
Street poster designed for Tadamon! in support of the international Campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israeli apartheid. Given the escalating war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, I urge everyone to stay informed and take whatever action they can to end this horror.
